AUSTRALIAN GUITAR HERO JOE MATERA TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM IN NOVEMBER
The new album features nine new songs built from a tumultuous year for Joe, in which he has enjoyed tremendous international success with ‘Creature Of Habit’, the accompanying single, ‘Fallen Angel’ and his first European Tour in September, 2012 as well as having to face a double family tragedy.
The roots of ‘Terra Firma’ stretch from this highly emotional period and the resultant song-writing display greater depth, maturity and emotive resonance than his previous work.
Joe – whose reputation is principally as a creator of guitar driven instrumentals – has also responded to calls from his fans to add more vocals in the wake of ‘Fallen Angel’ and two new songs on the collection, ‘Shining Star’ and ‘Tell Me Why’ feature his voice and new lyrical twists.
‘Shining Star’ will be the lead-off single and two versions of the song are found on the album. The ‘single’ version is a no-holds-barred full band rock attack that features a guest appearance from The Sweet’s Pete Lincoln, on bass. In addition, there is a relaxed ‘acoustic’ version also featuring Lincoln alongside another of Joe’s great friends, Smokie’s Martin Bullard on keyboards.
Joe will be heavily promoting the album in May 2014 during a ‘European Terra Firma tour’ which will include shows in Austria, Germany, Netherlands and the UK.
'Fallen Angel' is the new and current CD single release by Joe Matera in Europe. The single has been garnering good radio airplay and support in Germany, England, Ireland, Scotland, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Greece, Mauritius & France. Hear and view the track below.

'CREATURE OF HABIT'
Instrumental melodic rock fans rejoiced in September as renowned guitarist Joe Matera unleashed his new album 'Creature Of Habit' on the world. The Australian native has built up a fine body of work to date and this may well be his best yet. Following in the tradition of fellow instrumental artists such as Joe Satriani, Matera has added a vocal track to the album, as well as, the eleven instrumental numbers (9 plus 3 bonus) on offer here, adding a new dimension to his work, which fans will savour.
'Fallen Angel' is one such highlight, acting as a perfect showcase for Joe's vocal ability, alongside his instrumental-guitar work. Other tracks include 'Slide', 'Endless Summer', 'Brave New World' and 'Outland'. Backing up Matera on 'Creature Of Habit' are American drummer James Strickler (Angellic Rage) handling drumming duties (as well as bass on several tracks), and Tony Dolan (Venom, MPire of Evil) on bass on three tracks and Rich Davenport on bass on one track.
Matera is also joined by a few guests, The Angels’ Rick Brewster, Smokie’s Mick McConnell – both who appeared on Matera’s 2011 EP 'Slave To The Fingers’ which received glowing reviews across the globe, - make a welcome return, again making a guest guitar solo contribution on one track a piece (Brewster on ‘No Way!’ and McConnell on 'Outland') as well as Fred Mascherino (Taking Back Sunday, The Color Fred, Terrible Things) who contributes a stunning guitar solo on 'Endless Summer'.
A much admired artist and esteemed music journalist Matera is a man of many talents, 'Creature Of Habit' easily highlights just how much his music means to him and how dedicated he is to producing the best album he can. 'Creature Of Habit' was released September, 3, 2012 via W.A.R Productions (Europe) and Mercury Fire Music (Australia)

'SLAVE TO THE FINGERS'
'Slave To The Fingers' features four brand new studio tracks, all showcasing Matera's six string talents at its best. The EP begins in bombastic fashion with a brief balls to the wall rocking interlude aptly titled 'Intro', before Matera's tasteful melodic playing takes center stage on the title track 'Slave To The Fingers'. Underscored by some eclectic styling, the track also features a special guest appearance by guitarist Mick McConnell from legendary rock band Smokie who contributes a breathtaking guitar solo on the track.
Next up 'Cruise Control', leads the charge as the EP's first single and is a soaring melodious affair, peppered by harmony guitars and a spirit recalling the halcyon days of 1970's classic guitar rock. 'Out Of The Blue' shifts things into overdrive, with Matera's harder rocking elements coming to the fore, for an all out sonic ear assault before 'Face Off', Matera's first all electric instrumental single from early 2011, and here being issued for the first time on CD, closes the EP majestically. 'Face Off' also features a special guest guitar solo by The Angels' Rick Brewster. The tight, rocking rhythm section backing Matera on 'Slave To The Fingers' is comprised of Englishman Tony 'Demolition' Dolan (Venom, Atomkraft) on bass and American James Strickler (Angellic Rage) on drums. 'Slave To The Fingers' was released November 28th, 2011 through W.A.R Productions (Europe) and Mercury Fire Music (Australia)
